Responding to Coronavirus

Hemingford is renowned for its strong community spirit, which has never been more evident than in the current Covid-19 pandemic.

Covid-19 can affect anyone, but the elderly and those with pre-existing health conditions are particularly vulnerable to the effects of the virus.

However, the virus can affect anyone and can be carried and spread before the affected person shows any symptoms, which is why the current 'lockdown' is in place and why social distancing (e.g. when shopping) is so important.

Hemingford Hub, a recognised and quality-assured organisation by HDC, is currently coordinating more than 100 volunteers across both Hemingford Abbots and Hemingford Grey to support the most vulnerable and those over 70 who are self-isolating.

Coordinators and volunteers are collating details of those that need support during the pandemic. If you need support to shop, to collect medicines, to walk your dog or just to have someone to contact you regularly, please do not hesitate to contact us. It's what we're here for.

You can keep in touch with the Hemingford Hub via Facebook and this website, which also contains lots of useful information and advice. If there is anything else you think we should include, please let us know.

In the meantime, please stay safe and well and we look forward to gathering together again as a community once the pandemic passes.

Thank you.

The Hemingford Hub Team.
