Press Release 14th June 2021
Hub Volunteers and Trustees
HemingfordHub, the community group that has supported the elderly, lonely and anyone who needed assistance throughout the pandemic, has become a charity.
The group, founded three years ago as a good neighbour scheme, has proved vital to Hemingford Grey and Hemingford Abbots over the past two years.
At the peak of the pandemic, more than 140 volunteers helped
with shopping, collecting medicines, sorting household problems, delivering hot meals and providing telephone friendship and support.
"Charitable status means we can achieve so much more," Tish Peek, the group's chairman, said.
"It means we can accept donations, attract gift aid and embark on much larger projects."
HemingfordHub has also been selected as the chosen charity for the Hemingfords’ Yard Trail on Sunday June 27, where more than 80 households in both villages will offer a range of goods from their drives and gardens.
The picture shows a group of HemingfordHub volunteers celebrating Volunteers’ Week along with the trustees of the newly appointed charity.
